I approached the Pallikonda toll plaza with a valid Fastag on my vehicle, bearing registration number KA51MN6600. The fastag scanner couldn’t scan my fastag for reasons unknown to me. I was asked to pay cash instead. National Highway Fee Determination of Rates and Collection Amendment Rule 2018 GSR 427E 07.05.2018, states that vehicles are allowed to travel toll-free if FASTag machines installed at toll plaza lanes fail to scan it. I showed the same to the toll plaza operators and the toll plaza manager. My fastag has been successfully scanned at other toll plazas as well and I showed the details of those transactions and the active status of my fastag. However they argued with me stating that it was my responsibility to fix issues with my fastag and forced me to pay cash. I lost about 30 minutes in this incident, and I eventually had to pay cash to pass through the toll plaza. This is violation of the rule stated above and the toll plaza operators and/or manager are not the authorized persons to determine any action other than what has been clearly stated in the rule. Below are the evidences attached.
